Spring Arbor

Joseph, a hospice nurse who grew up in Ghana, takes care of Margaret this morning. Above her bed is one of the paintings she did when she was younger. Her walls are hung with some of her art work.

Margaret is more responsive this morning. It is a big change from yesterday. She follows us about the room with her eyes. Today quickly became a day to connect with relatives and old friends. Calls are made and she listens as her grandchildren, other relatives and close friends tell her they love her and say goodbye. She isn't able to talk with them, but we know she is listening and hears them.

Michael — one of her nephews — stops for a visit ...

... with his dog Winky. It is a day off for Michael and the two are heading off for a hike after their visit.

Mom follows me and smiles when I tell her I am leaving for a while and will be back later.
All photos taken with a Leica M8.
