The plantation Thomas Jefferson grew up on is named for Tuckahoe Creek, a small stream that drains the piedmont of Goochland County and empties into the James River west of Richmond.

Tuckahoe Plantation has been a working farm and family home for 300 years. It sits on a bluff above the James River near the confluence of Tuckahoe Creek. Some of America's greatest minds have been guests in this house. The ghost walk leads to the back door. All colonial plantation homes face the water.

Dianne getting to know some of the horses on Tuckahoe Plantation.

It was on this plantation that Thomas Jefferson began his education and established the discipline he would be known for throughout his life.

We were at the plantation to photograph a bridal portrait on the grounds. The appearance of this dark cloud challenged us as time approached for the shoot.
